Tim Rice-Oxley (piano), Tom Chaplin (vocals, guitar), Richard Hughes (drums) and Jesse Quin (bass) know how to make sparks fly. After a long hiatus and years of uncertainty, they are back with Cause and Effect, an album that will hopefully be the first of a second series. A second phase in the band's history, which will undoubtedly be less dense, more spontaneous and adapted to their life as fathers. No more albums and tours, but listening to each other and enjoying, without knowing what will happen next. One thing is certain, Keane has not finished surprising us.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The band's story began in 1997 with a group of friends in Battle, southern England. After a difficult first few years, the tide turned in 2002 when they were spotted by independent label Fierce Panda, who signed them to their first contract. The first single, \"Everybody's changing\", was released, followed by \"This is the last time\", to positive reviews. This led to more radio play and concerts, and the band was signed to Universal's Island label. 2004 was the year of consecration for Keane, with the release of the album \"Hopes and Fears\", which brought them success in the UK and around the world. With a steady stream of requests and tours, everything was looking up for the band.<\/p>

Without taking the time to catch their breath, Keane released their second album \"Under the iron sea\" in 2006, whose darker touch echoed the difficult times Keane were going through at the time, linked to singer Tom Chaplin's drug problems. Subsequent tours and singles production were affected, but the band managed to turn things around and ended 2007 with a triumphant arena tour of the UK. This time around, the band took time out to rest, and 2 years later released their third album, Perfect Symmetry.<\/p>

This uncomplicated third album surprised fans and critics alike, but ushered in a much happier period for the band, who toured the world in the years following its release. This period ends with the release of the experimental maxi \"Night train\", a collection of tracks and collaborations made during this period, giving a bric-a-brac feel to this mini-album released in 2010.<\/p>

After several years as a three-piece, Tim, Tom and Richard were joined by Jesse Quin on bass. Starting out as a simple collaboration, the chemistry developed and Jesse finally officially joined the band. So it's the 4 of them who continue to write the new pages in Keane's history.<\/p>

In 2012, they release their 4th<\/sup> studio album, entitled \"Strangeland\"... 4 years after the previous album \"Perfect Symmetry\"! A break that sounds like a return to their roots for the band, both personally and musically. The rediscovered piano-pop melodies both reconcile die-hard fans and win over new hearts around the world. Keane continues to distill the indescribable pleasure that comes with every listen!<\/p>

In 2013, the band released its first Best-Of album and went on a short tour. But the quartet is a bit out of breath. Jesse became a father for the second time, Tom wanted to release a solo album... So it was by mutual agreement that the band decided to take a \"long break\", in order to develop their personal and artistic lives.<\/p>

After long years of uncertainty, sailing their separate ways, the group seems to have broken up for good. But that's without counting the ties that keep them going. They reunited for a concert at Battle in 2018. Shortly before, Tim shared with them songs he had written, inspired by his painful divorce. It didn't take much for the pleasure of playing together to be rekindled, and the seeds of Cause And Effect to be planted. September 2019 sees the release of the band's 5th album, followed by a tour of the UK, Europe, Latin America and North America, unfortunately cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. This album marks the start of a second phase in the band's history, less dense, more spontaneous and more in tune with their life as fathers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Born on 8 March 1979<\/p>

    Tom est un ami d’enfance de Tim, et il rejoint en 1997 le trio des Lotus Eaters (Tim, Richard et Dominic Scott), en tant que guitariste et chanteur. Il gardera ainsi le micro de Keane, et on connait la suite …<\/p>

    En plus de la guitare et du chant, il joue \u00e9galement du piano et de l’orgue sur certains morceaux en live.<\/p>

    Bruyant et blagueur, Tom sait mettre l’ambiance sur sc\u00e8ne et dans les coulisses. Sa voix et ses vestes nous \u00e9blouissent toujours. Sa nature introvertie l’a malheureusement amen\u00e9 sur des chemins plus sombres d’addiction \u00e0 la drogue et l’alcool, notamment en 2006 et 2015.\u00a0<\/p>

    En 2016, il sort son premier album solo \u00ab\u00a0The Wave\u00a0\u00bb, inspir\u00e9 de son chemin difficile vers la sobri\u00e9t\u00e9. Suivent en 2017 un album de No\u00ebl intitul\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Twelve Tales of Christmas\u00a0\u00bb, ainsi que \u00ab\u00a0Midpoint\u00a0\u00bb en 2022, qui \u00e9voque le passage \u00e0 la quarantaine.<\/p>

    Il est parfois actif sur Instagram ou Twitter, o\u00f9 il publie notamment quelques blagues, ou bien s’\u00e9nerve contre les trolls, selon l’humeur. Papa combl\u00e9, il reste discret sur sa vie priv\u00e9e, mais sa passion pour le golf et son amour pour son foyer ne sont plus un secret.<\/p>

    Richard rencontre Tom, Tim et Dominic \u00e0 l’\u00e9cole Tonbridge School (Kent). Daltonien de naissance, il sera secr\u00e9taire \u00e0 la BBC, ou encore professeur de g\u00e9ographie, avant le succ\u00e8s du groupe.<\/p>

    Il est le batteur de Keane, mais tous les fans du groupe vous diraient \u00ab\u00a0plus que \u00e7a\u00a0\u00bb. Les pieds sur terre et d’une gentillesse infinie, Richard est le SAV de Keane, toujours avenant et disponible en dehors de la sc\u00e8ne, et d’une excellente m\u00e9moire !<\/p>

    Tr\u00e8s actif sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux, et notamment Twitter, il communique sur beaucoup de choses. Amateur de caf\u00e9, passionn\u00e9 des chats, de cyclisme, d’escalade, de photographie, il est aussi un membre actif de Amnesty International et suit de pr\u00e8s la politique.<\/p>

    Il est devenu papa en 2016. Au fil des ann\u00e9es, il est rest\u00e9 fid\u00e8le \u00e0 lui m\u00eame et n’a pas perdu de ses talents. Un \u00ab\u00a0mec en or\u00a0\u00bb, comme on dit.<\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table> <\/div>\n\t\t \n

    Born on 3 September 1981<\/p>

    D’une maman chanteuse et d’un p\u00e8re ing\u00e9nieur du son, Jesse baigne tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t dans le monde la musique.<\/p>

    En 2007, Jesse est technicien son pendant les tourn\u00e9es de Keane et membre d’un autre groupe, \u00ab\u00a0Jesse Quin & The Mets\u00a0\u00bb. C’est \u00e0 l’occasion d’un concert pour War Child en novembre de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e que Jesse rejoindra le groupe sur sc\u00e8ne, pour jouer \u00ab\u00a0Under Pressure\u00a0\u00bb, morceau n\u00e9cessitant un bassiste.<\/p>

    Ce fut le premier concert d’une longue s\u00e9rie. Il continuera en effet d’accompagner le groupe pendant la cr\u00e9ation et les concerts de Perfect Symmetry et Night Train, avant d’officiellement int\u00e9grer le groupe le… 3 f\u00e9vrier 2011 !<\/p>

    Musicien de talent (il chante, et joue de la guitare, du synth\u00e9, de la basse, et sans doute plus encore !), Jesse est appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but par le trio pour son apport artistique, mais aussi son humour et son espi\u00e8glerie qui apportent fra\u00eecheur et nouveaut\u00e9 dans l’ambiance stressante du succ\u00e8s fulgurant de Keane. C’est donc naturellement que Keane deviendra un quatuor, bien avant son int\u00e9gration officielle.<\/p>

    En 2010, il forme avec Tim et d’autres musiciens le groupe Mt Desolation, aux influences country\/folk, qui produira deux albums : \u00ab\u00a0Mt Desolation\u00a0\u00bb(2010) et \u00ab\u00a0When The Night Calls\u00a0\u00bb(2018).<\/p>

    Jesse est \u00e9galement le fondateur d’un centre d’arts, situ\u00e9 sur une base abandonn\u00e9e de la US Air Force du sud de l’Angleterre : Old Jet.<\/p>

    A father of two, Jesse is a keen photographer and regularly posts on Instagram.<\/p>

    Durant toutes ces ann\u00e9es, Jesse a su s’inscrire dans le ciment du groupe, y trouvant sa place comme un talent et un ami indispensable.<\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table> <\/div>\n\t\t \n

    Ayant grandi dans le Kent, Tim rencontre Richard \u00e0 l’\u00e9cole et forme en 1995 le trio des Lotus Eaters. Le groupe int\u00e8gre peu apr\u00e8s son ami d’enfance, un certain Tom Chaplin, et devient Keane ! Vous l’aurez compris, Tim c’est le pilier qui a rassembl\u00e9 et f\u00e9d\u00e9r\u00e9 le groupe \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts. Le pr\u00e9f\u00e9rant au piano de Coldplay, il a beaucoup compos\u00e9 pour le groupe et fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 la \u00ab\u00a0griffe\u00a0\u00bb de Keane, jusqu’au fameux titre \u00ab\u00a0Somewhere Only We Know\u00a0\u00bb qui les a emmen\u00e9 vers le succ\u00e8s.<\/p>

    With his stirring melodies and profound lyrics, Tim is capable of spending days and nights in front of his piano.<\/p>

    Sa relation avec Tom, ce sont des dents de scie qui ont dessin\u00e9 et guid\u00e9 l’histoire du groupe, entre l’espoir et l’admiration d’Hopes and Fears, les temps difficiles d’Under The Iron Sea, la fra\u00eecheur des retrouvailles de Perfect Symmetry, la nostalgie de Strangeland, et enfin la solitude et l’esp\u00e9rance de Cause and Effect.<\/p>

    En 2010, il forme Mt Desolation, projet auquel participe aussi Jesse. Trois albums na\u00eetront de cette collaboration : \u00ab\u00a0Mt Desolation\u00a0\u00bb (2010), \u00ab\u00a0When The Night Calls\u00a0\u00bb(2018), et \u00ab\u00a0Through Crooked Aim\u00a0\u00bb (2022).<\/p>

    Divorc\u00e9 et p\u00e8re de deux enfants, amateur de course \u00e0 pied, d’escalade et de litt\u00e9rature, Tim publie certaines de ses rencontres et d\u00e9couvertes sur Instagram.<\/p>
